It’s not a terribly closely guarded secret that Anton has been living here in Berlin for the last while, he’s not been playing gigs at all (or at least that us plebeians are allowed to know about) except for doing the occasional DJ slot at 8MM bar (which he may or may not actually do, depending on who you talk to). He has been busy producing new music though and on occasion live-streaming the process for the world to see and if you’ve ever checked out one of those sessions you’ll know what a mind the guy has, seriously, the music just tumbles out of his brain and onto the floor and if he deigns so fit as to pick a piece of it up and make something of it, it ends up being just amazing. It’s not for no reason that the Brian Jonestown Massacre are regarded by some as being the most important contribution to rock&roll still living. It’s also not for no reason that they’re up to album number thirteen.
The new album, Aufheben, has been out since the beginning of May and the kids have been touring furiously for the last while, spreading the gospel word and giving people who haven’t seen them live yet the chance to. If you haven’t, now’s the chance, and in a pretty decent sized venue too, Lido is always good fun.
